Workout Motivation Part 3
“Oh bloody hell (in a very polished British accent) this rut again; why does the universe Despise me?” “Can’t I catch a break or is my luck so tragic, that falling off the wagon has happened to me for the second time” These are the thoughts, fuelled by anger that the motivational rookie first experiences after falling off the wagon for the second time. After, some time spent wallowing away in self-pity, a period of isolation arrives where the rookie ponders upon their next big move. This decision could make or break them, it could change their lives for the better or it could render months of their hard work; sacrifice and growth redundant.
After a tremendous amount of time spent on pondering; this humongous, life altering decision, the rookie finally comes to the most logical conclusion that, they will make it their life’s mission to get back on this wagon and do whatever it takes to stay on it. This time around, they note down every moment that lead them to fall off the wagon twice. After noting down these moments, they then ponder on where it all went downhill and what they need to do differently this time around. A realisation happens or more of an aha moment, that with staying motivated and maintaining a new and healthy lifestyle, change is imperative and necessary. Instead of falling back into their old routine, they begin to implement changes holistically to that routine. The changes are applied right through the routine from; the morning motivational mantras, to the type of meals eaten, extending to work outs and social life, coupled with a moderate amount of indulgence. A balance is then created and instead of living each day predictably with boredom, a new day becomes a new way. In addition to the above, they learn to love themselves and base their self-worth on the positive way in which they see themselves.
Firstly, instead of awaking each morning to chant the same positive mantras plastered on their walls, the rookie finds new motivational: speeches; quotes; videos with inspirational messages, from positive people or perhaps a radio talk show, to kick-start their mornings resulting in a positive day ahead. This results in, the rookie feeling enlightened and inspired to stay motivated each and every day. Secondly, instead of following a strict meal plan, the rookie experiments with meals according to their cravings for that specific day. Being bold with their meals becomes their new motto; instead of plain oatmeal for breakfast, the rookie becomes spicy and decides to add some; cinnamon, raw cocoa and honey to make it absolutely scrumptious. Alternative, to really shake things up, they decide to have an exotic yet healthy smoothie for breakfast instead of the normal oatmeal. They do this type of vivid and creative experimentation with each meal, to keep it; enjoyable, exciting, fun and delicious leaving that palate greatly satisfied. Furthermore, these changes are then applied to all aspects of their life such as; their workouts and their beverages. With regards to their workouts; each day consists of a shuffle of activities, ensuring that the toning aspect as well as the cardio aspect are both in place. One day, a boot camp consisting of; a circuit of training activities is done. The next day, hitting the machines such as: the elliptical; treadmill and cycle are craved; coupled with numerous toning and fat burning exercises, to target all those problem areas. Each day consists of a new and exciting workout which still results in: burning those calories; shredding that unwanted fat and building that sexy booty. This type of excitement in working out, allows one to stay motivated and keep at it. With regards to beverages; changing the ingredients in pre and post workout shakes and playing around with flavours, works wonders in keeping it; fun, filling and most importantly delicious. Keeping in mind with the above mentioned, the rookie learns how to socialise and still stick to healthy eating, ensuring that outings with friends and family is solely for catching up purposes. This mind-shift making company a focal point instead of food, allows one to order a clean and tantalising meal. In keeping the outings to a minimum; a balance is created and therefore time is not stolen from the other aspects of one’s life. A cheat meal is incorporated once in a while, to keep a level of normalcy and to satisfy those cravings. The cheat meal usually consists of: something miniscule and not large in calories, it’s always a choice between sweet and savoury never both. This type of discipline and balance results in a more stable and motivated life. One begins to look and feel great and most importantly, the mind becomes extremely empowered and uplifted. A healthy mind is a healthy body. After months of living this new lifestyle it becomes an exciting norm that one feels blessed to live. The rookie experiences many changes both physical and mental. This new physique attains a lot of positive attention, although unlike before this does not determine the rookie’s self-worth and the continuity with such a lifestyle is not based on external validation, it is now based on internal validation. Being better than you were yesterday; feeling empowered and energised; living your life to its extreme fullest is what keeps this cycle going. At the end of this motivational journey, after years of implementation when it becomes innate; this motivational rookie is no longer a rookie but rather an expert eager to learn new things each day; positively impacts each individual that they come into contact with, inspiring them to be healthier and motivated. They then become a beacon of hope and inspiration for other motivational rookies and their journey even though a long one, provides a basis for these new rookies and even with all this change each day still remains a new and exciting challenge to be better than they were yesterday.
