Shift S3ctor
I love speed! There I said it. The faster I go the faster I want to go. It's an addiction. I love the thrill of it, the exhilaration of full throttle acceleration for a full half a mile. This last weekend was my best speed and my best time in the 1/2 mile. It was more fun to run that quickly than it has been before.
I've talked before about how a lot more power is required to go a little faster. Some of it is of course related to how the power is put down of course and some is related to your weight and other factors. Aerodynamics play an important role above a certain speed as well. I do indeed need to go through some physics classes to find out how exactly it all plays a role.
I was very impressed with my car this weekend. It was battling it out for 2nd place in the German division with two different Porsche Turbo S's. One was running upgraded turbos and was putting down 170-175 miles per hour and the other one was with a built engine, turbos and other goodies putting down 185 MPH or so. I was running third with a top speed of the day of 173.01. The way the heats went is as follows. You had all morning to make the top 4 from start time to 1 PM. Then you had from 1-3 PM to make the top two. Then the finals were between the top two heads up racing. That sort of setup requires consistency. During the morning I put down a 173.01 and between the 1-3 PM time slot I managed a top of 170. If one of the other Porsche's hadn't shown up or if they hadn't managed at least 170 I would have made it to the finals. They did better than I did. It was lots of fun and totally unexpected. I was just having a good time racing.
All in all it was a fantastic day and I really appreciated Elite Finish Detailing hosting me in their booth. Those guys are great and have always been fun to spend time with. Of course we all like to win and that's what we all work towards but in the end it really doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's all about the experience and working towards new goals and new achievements. Life is too short to go slow.
