Half Mile Racing
Speed is addictive. I've now gone to 3 different Shift S3ctor events and one Omega Motorsport event. These events are all half mile in length and are less formal than a 1/4 mile drag race. I find them more enjoyable to participate in. Each time I've gone, my car has had different modifications and has performed better and gotten faster.
The amount of horsepower it takes to gain a few miles per hour is insane. This event was my second time running. I did a best of 143 miles per hour. This was with a "stage 2" pump gas tune from Iroz Motorsport and Custom Code Tuning. I think this combination is good for around 420-430 wheel horsepower. This was prior to learning the joys and amazing power that E85 could generate. I had no idea what I was missing. I had run a few months before at Shift S3ctor completely stock. I ran a best at that event of 137 miles per hour. Stock these put down around 345-350 wheel horsepower. See what I mean about putting down power...
I learned a lot at this event. I learned that it took a ton of additional power to put down a few more miles per hour. I also learned that I need to pay attention to the redline if I want to shift manually. LOL Every single one of these events has been a blast. 1/2 mile racing is one of favorite types of racing. It will be fun to see what my beautiful little car can put down this coming weekend. Stay tuned.
