The Road to Sedona Arizona
Who likes road trips? I sure love them. I've always enjoyed the call of the open road. Just to drive and drive. There is so much to see in the great United States of America. I love traveling to Europe and other places are definitely on my bucket list but road trips across the country are also high on the priority.
The most recent road trip I took was to Sedona Arizona. It was part of a taking a trip to race at the half mile event that Omega Motorsport put on called the No Fly Zone. After driving my Audi TT RS over from San Diego to Gila Bend and racing it was time to go into Sedona. Below are some pictures of the drive over to Gila Bend. A road trip is always more fun with friends and you can see my friend Shea in his RS3 behind in the mirror.

You know the saying "It's about the journey not the destination"? I think road trips embody that philosophy. You can see by the pictures it was important how long it took to get to Sedona. In fact Sedona only happened to last for half a day. It was the journey along the way that was so much fun.
From the top left you can see the progression of the trip. The first picture was at a rest stop but had some gorgeous scenery. Then the next few pictures were at a vista point right off the highway. It was so much fun to just take a few minutes to enjoy the view take some fun pictures of the car and the gorgeous surrounding area. The next couple pictures of some close up red rock and dirt were taken after a little side trip from the highway. There was a sign that said it was a park area so headed over that direction and found a small community of houses surrounded by this gorgeous setting. It was only a couple miles of the highway but so quiet and peaceful and relaxing. Somewhere it would be great to relax in. Its fun to take pictures through the dirty windshield as well on the highway. Just to commemorate the trip and show the view from the road. It is a road trip after all and on a road trip you are absorbing the atmosphere. If you are in a rush a road trip becomes a chore and frustrating but when you take your time and stop to "smell the roses" it becomes a completely different experience. The final picture was from the hotel room in Sedona. Yes it was late in the afternoon upon arrival, just enough time to settle in walk around a little and see a tiny bit of the area. It is on the list to return to because the time in actual Sedona was far too short but the trip along the way made it a memory to experience. Thanks for visiting and remember to "Strive to Arrive"!
