Fake people

CUP Bangers

Something has come home to me very strongly over the past two plus years.
Why that time period? Well that’s been the amount of time I’ve owned my Audi. You have to be careful of who you trust and who are your true friends.

Of course I’ve always known this. Years and years of experience of people who backstab you or who use you. That is just part of the facts of life. In fact, I found the body building world to be very fake and hard to know who good people were. Lots of selfishness and self centered people, as well as problems with self esteem. In addition, lots of people who really only wanted what was best for them and to utilize you for their personal gain.  Being more entrenched into the car communities, those same traits became too obvious.  Let me explain.

ENGINE BUILD

Building a TT RS Motor

Having my engine built was a big choice for me. Not only is it a big expense but it also is a large undertaking. Logistics need to be taken into account on when and how it will happen. Your car will be out of service for a period of time. In addition, my engine was running great, I’d had no issues and things were kept on a “safe” level for torque.  Open heart surgery is never something someone wants to go through and the same goes for removing a perfect running engine. At the same time I was making around 650 wheel horsepower and felt that my engine was being stressed even with the torque level being kept around 500 foot pounds. You also need to consider who you want to have build your engine. More on that in a future post.  These were all factors I considered when making the decision to build.

Custom-Code

I’ve had my TT RS since August 21, 2017.  It was a memorable Monday.  The journey has been incredible.  Stock, the car was lots of fun.  I ended up going to our local mountain drive the first week.  The only thing I felt it was missing was more sound.  So the downpipes got put on and voila more sound occurred.  Problem was my check engine light was on.  How to fix it?  Well a tune of course.

TAKING DELIVERY IN EUROPE

European Delivery

Being a car buff I've heard of European delivery for years and years and looked into it a few times.  I know not a lot of people have heard of it before.  For those of you who haven't it goes like this:  You purchase the car in the United States at your local dealer then you go to Europe to pick it up.  You spec what you want on the car, the model, the color and the packages.  Then you order it from the dealer and prior to going to Europe you pay for it.  That can be financed normally or you can choose to pay cash.  Each manufacturer has their own way of doing it but that is the general idea.

Memorial Day

A few years ago I had the privilege of visiting the Normandy Beaches with my parents and friends.  These friends had been so gracious to take us into their home and let us use it as a base to travel around Normandy and then to take us to the Normandy Beaches.  We didn't see all of them but we got to see quite a bit.  This was such a powerful experience and to me it represents what Memorial Day is all about.
